Ozai can rock a goat beard pretty well! But that’s his only good point. Hmm, if you have time, expand on how season 3 Aang tested your love. I don’t really see Zuko/Mai’s relationship as being anything other than a teenager’s love. But it can change.

In season 3, I felt like the moral narrative of the show veered away from it’s previous tone. Aang is only 12 years old and has the world on his shoulders, which I totally get (poor bb) but I was really turned off by his flat out refusal to listen to the previous Avatar’s advice about Ozai. Aang saw death as this huge violation (understandable and applicable to pretty much everyone else who is not Ozai, given his culture) but I didn’t see how that was more offensive than the spiritbending, which I also saw as a pretty big moral quandary We can’t violate something like playing god with death, but we can violate their soul and change it to our whim? I didn’t see how that was better than killing him, especially when he is clearly not doing anyone any favors by being alive. I also wasn’t thrilled with how the writers tried to wrap up his and Katara’s relationship, but that’s more their fault than Aang’s.

Given Zuko and Mai’s personalities, I just don’t understand how they could be successful as a couple. As Mai was set up, living the palace life would bore the shit out of her, and Zuko needs someone to balance his emotional turmoil instead of tell him to hush. I dig Mai’s loyalty to him though, I can see them being friends throughout life.
